Jim Rogers – Teach Your Children Chinese

Jim Rogers is a well-known American investor, financial commentator, and the founder of the Rogers International Commodities Index (RICI). He is also a college professor and a writer, whose latest books include “A Bull in China: Investing Profitably in the World’s Greatest Market” (2007), and “A Gift to My Children: A Father’s Lessons for Life and Investing.” (2009)

Jim Rogers and his family relocated to Singapore in 2007 in order to provide his two daughters a Chinese-speaking environment. Jim told CNBC on June 5th this year that his six-year-old Happy and one-year-old Bee have been learning Chinese with their governess. “I want my little girls to grow up understanding Asia and speaking Mandarin. I think the best skill that I can give people born in 2003 and 2008, is to be fluent in Mandarin and to know Asia,” said Jim.

Jim further described the 19th century was the century of the U.K.; the 20th century was the century of the U.S while the 21st century is the century of China. He has confidence that in this century, China will be the most important country in the world. Asia is the future. America is the past and Europe is the past. The 21st century belongs to Asia, especially China.

Deng Xiaoping once said in 1978, China had declined for nearly 300 years till then, and it was time for China to change. 21 years has passed since 1978, and we surely have witnessed the rise of China. During the interview, Jim Rogers offered an advice to the audiences that all foresighted parents should teach their children and grandchildren Chinese. The future is in Asia.
